From the 17th to the 20th, we rested up in Dublin, watched a storm named Betty come ashore from our hotel room (rain and a little wind – not like anything on the Gulf Coast), marveled at the tide movement (up to 15 feet a day on the west coast), and traveled to Newquay on the very southwest part of England. Newquay (pronounced New-Key) is a charming holiday beach venue full of families enjoying the summer break.
Today we took a short drive from Newquay to Marazion and caught a little ferry boat to St Michaels Mount. Here is one of the seven shrines erected in honor of St. Michael that we will visit during our pilgrimage. The chapel was built by the family we built (and still lives) in the castle. They open their home to visitors who are given access to certain parts of the castle, gardens and the chapel.
For anyone interested, here is a short article about The Sacred Line of St Michael the Archangel.
It’s been a fun part of our travels to check these off the list. There was a dramatic sculpture of St. Michael and Satan at the Mount today that was neat to see.
