With many others, we followed the music and voices and came upon a Taizé service organized by a Portuguese youth group. For those not familiar with Taize, it is an ecumenical worship service mainly through simple music with chanting and repetitive verses… kinda meditation. (One of our favorites Veni Sancte Spiritus · Taizé). Joe’s created a video. By the end of the service, the church was packed.
Okay, laugh it you want, but it took Joe and I a while to figure out the front door to our hotel. Tired of eating out, we reserved a room with a kitchenette. We checked in at the hotel front desk, and then they pointed us across the street. We walked in the restaurant and looked to the right expecting a door, but nada. The hostess at Sagardis rescued us. She said she has to “reveal” the door to hotel guests all the time. Again, we felt like we were in a Harry Potter movie. The door is the right panel window of the restaurant. There is the slimmest handle on the door. I got a pic of Joe coming out of the hidden door. One of those fun little things we’ve encountered…
