August 31st – Athens to Patras to Corinth (~ 230 miles)

We rented a car in Athens and drove to Patras then back to Corinth.

Holy Church of Saint Andrew (new church started 1908 and completed in 1974). It was built to accommodate the crowds that became too big for the older church door.

Holy Church of Saint Andrew (older church). This original church is immediately adjacent to the new one and hold the tomb of St. Andrew. Both churches were beautiful and had many people visiting and praying. The church is in the city of Patras which is a college town right on the coast and was hopping with activity. Add thousands of people to the narrow, two way streets, and lawless motorcycle drivers swerving in and around all the cars, and you get an intense driving situation.

Corinth. We were too close not to drive by! The ancient ruins have a fantastic museum on the grounds, too. It was fun to walk around the ruins imaging the city in its day and Paul’s missionary work here. The views from the city were just beautiful.
